 Face Bumps

Another observation after 30 plus years of close contact with my species:  Somewhere in the neighborhood of 5% of North Americans have papules on their faces, arrayed in front of their ears, near their noses and mouths, along the nasolabial folds.  I believe these to be vestigial structures, formerly bearers of Guard Hairs, aka Vibrissae, as in dogs and cats, seals, and many other mammals.  There are other fleshy papules in these areas, known to be remnants of developmental structures, such as Branchial Clefts, but these have a very different appearance, and are uncommon. (1:10,000-12,500 live births). The common ones I see all the time, are markers of our commonality with other mammals.
